Personal Statement
My name is Brittany Wilkinson and I am a 5’4” 122 lb. Goal keeper. I might not be the tallest goalies but I make up for that in effort. I’ve been on varsity for my high school team since my 8th grade year and have worked to keep my spot as a starter. In high school I was awarded defensive player of the year my freshman year and most improved player my sophomore year. I played rec soccer until the summer of my sophomore year because we could not afford a club team but my parents told me that they want my hard work to pay off and allowed me to join Vestavia Hills Soccer Club my junior year summer, I was scared at first because it was an excellent club team and I didn’t think that I would make much of a difference to their team, however when I got there they made me feel at home. I went from playing the second half to starting and eventually playing the whole game. Moving to Vestavia was the peak of my soccer career, they have taught me many things I would’ve never learned if I stayed in rec. I’m thankful for Vestavia for helping me grow into a better Goal Keeper and a better athlete. I pride myself on being not only a hard working athlete who strives to get better but also being a good teammate. I know you are a student before you are an athlete and school is what’s most important to me. I make sure I can maintain my grades and athletics. I would love to further my athletic career by playing soccer in college and hopefully going further i get the opportunity to.
