Jessie Spurrell '23 Recruiting Profile

I’m a hardworking, determined, and ambitious person and goalkeeper. I have a high soccer IQ, and I love to watch game film, professional and my own, and analyse and break down different tactics and techniques that I can transfer into my own game. I was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. I bring a vocality to the back line that, I believe, is second to none. I have been given many opportunities to play up at different levels, and the experience of playing with different teams has made me a very adaptable goalkeeper. My confidence and direction never wavers, no matter what level I am playing at. I possess a natural leadership quality that allows me to adapt to various dynamics. I understand that I have to modify my communication style to connect with different people. Coaching young goalkeepers at my club for the past 4 years has allowed me to further develop this skill.  I am a fully fluent French-Immersion student. I  completed the IB MYP (Middle Years Programme) at Holy Cross Académie Internationale (Grades 6-9), and I started high school at Ross Sheppard Composite High School in 2020. I have been an Honours Student since 2018, and received Honours with Distinction last year. I was moved up to IB English last year after general testing, and finished with a 90%.
