Hello, my name is Braya and i am very excited to introduce myself. I am 17 years old and I am currently a grade 12 student at Pitt Meadows Secondary School.
Presently I am playing on two different soccer teams. I play varsity soccer for my high school and I also play club soccer in the U-17 premier division for Coquitlam Metro Ford Soccer Club which is located in British Columbia Canada. I was made a starting midfielder/forward in my sophomore year for the senior team.
I have played the game I love since i was 3 years old. I am a third generation soccer player. My grandfather and my mother both played at very high levels of soccer and I have been extremely blessed to have both of them coach me at different times in my life.
Divisional soccer started for me at the U-11 and U-12 level when I was picked to play midfield in the super eight program. At U-13 I decided to try out for the Fraser valley selects metro team, where I was picked to be a left back defender. In 2016-17 our team won the metro select league championship and the Coastal Cup Championship. We also placed third for a bronze medal at the Provincial Championships. It was my first experience being on a team that had tremendous success. I stayed within the Fraser valley selects program for 3 seasons, where we were able to achieve some great results: SX Cup champions, Surrey mayors cup champions(MVP), Umbro cup finalists, and coastal cup silver medallist. It was during this time where I was selected to partake in the British Columbia Summer Games. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I was named one of the starting forwards as a 14 year old, going up against some of the best 15 year old players in the province. I ended up being able to help bring home a bronze medal for our efforts. I have been part of many academies, but the two I have continued with are TSS Academy and Toca Academy. They have both helped me develop into the soccer player I am today.
I have played left back defender, striker, winger, outside midfield, forward and many other positions on the pitch. I also have been able to play in many different formations with changes to the formation every 15-30 minutes during game play 4-4-2, 3-5-2,4-3-3, 4-3-2-1 and many more. I have also been able to learn Advance platforms and manipulations of defensive formations. I am hard-working, energetic and a team player.
I am a dedicated student and I take my academics very seriously. Presently I am on the student council and i am on the honor role. I am currently not decided on a major but my interests include biochemistry, business, kinesiology, sports medicine and law. In the future I would like to coach at a collegiate or national level. Currently i am helping coach my younger sister (U-12) in the super eight division. I also have been asked recently to be a regional academy coach through a coaching mentorship program with West Coast Soccer FC ( Craig Dalrymple ). I find volunteering with the young aspiring soccer players to be exhilarating. I really enjoy teaching them technical skills and general knowledge within the game. I am in the process of building a technical workout plan for them. Although Soccer Takes up 5 to 7 days per week it isn‘t the only thing I’m involved in. I love drawing, playing guitar, Cosmetology and hanging with friends and family whenever I can.
I believe my best qualities are the ability to overcome adversity both on and off the field and my work ethic. I love the fact that every time you step on the field it brings new challenges to overcome. I am hoping to have a long career playing and coaching soccer for many years.
Thank you for taking the time!
