Personal Statement

Ever since I first started walking, I was out in my backyard kicking a ball around with my Dad. In England I grew up watching the Premier League every weekend, especially Arsenal. At the age of 6 (2005), I attended an Arsenal Junior Gunners summer camp. From that, I was youngest of 40 kids selected from Great Britain to have the opportunity to meet the first squad and train with them.

Through this, I have developed excellent foot to ball skills, including ball control, juggling and heading. I am also able to effectively kick a ball with both my left and my right foot, although I favour my right foot. I want to play for my country, Canada or England, and make them proud.

Currently I am the designated dead ball specialist for all my teams. When I’m not playing or training for any of my teams, I give back to the soccer community by refereeing youth games and lining games all the way up to the senior level. I am currently registered under BC Soccer as a player, full field referee and a certified coach for BC soccer association.

I would like to attend an American university/college and play at the highest level. In class & on the field I am always listening, working hard and participating in discussions, all while maintaining a high GPA score.

Note to coaches: Due to local school district regulations I am not eligible to play on the High school soccer team as I attend the Reynolds Secondary School Soccer academy and didn't attend a Middle school which is the official feeder school for Reynolds Secondary School. As I wanted to represent my school I have played Tennis, Volleyball, Field Hockey & Basketball (MVP).

  • Coached by Vikes Head Coach Tracy David - BIO .The 2014-15 season is Tracy David's 13th season as head coach of the UVic Vikes women's soccer team. In combination with her 16-year career with the Alberta Pandas, David has three CIS titles to her name with the lone Vikes title coming in 2005. After 16 years with the Pandas and 10 with the Vikes, David has been named Canada West Coach of the Year seven times (1989, '95, '97, '98, ‘05, '08, '13) and had one CIS Coach of the Year nod in 1989. David finished the 2014-15 regular season with an impressive 8-1-3 record, conceding just one loss to two-time defending CIS champions Trinity Western Spartans by a score of 1-0. The Vikes finished second in the Prairie Division with hosting rights of their opening play-off match, the Canada West quarter-final against Fraser Valley. In the 2013-14 regular season, David was named Canada West Coach of the Year for guiding her team to a 10-2 record to earn the top seed and hosting rights of the Canada West Final Six. Three Vikes were named Canada West All-Stars as the Vikes get set to qualify for a berth to the 2013 CIS Championship hosted in Toronto. Last season the Vikes hosted the CIS Championship and finished third after defeating Ottawa in penalty kicks. David was named head coach of the UVic Vikes women’s soccer team in 2002 after guiding the Pandas from 1985 to 2000. David's impact with the Vikes was immediate, leading the program to its first-ever CIS title in 2005. Since then, David has led the program to four consecutive CIS tournament appearances, a record in the CIS. David and the Vikes also won the Canada West conference title in 2008 at Centennial Stadium. David's overall conference record behind the UVic bench is 98-33-23. Before becoming one of the top university coaches in Canada, David enjoyed a long and prolific playing career. She began with the Edmonton Angels, where she captained the team to six national titles over ten seasons. In 1986, David was selected to be a part of the inaugural Canadian Women’s National team and played with them until 1990. David was capped 15 times for Canada and was inducted into the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame in 2003. As a student at the University of Alberta, David was instrumental in the creation of a university varsity women's soccer league. Thanks to David and her colleagues, the first official Canada West women’s soccer league was established in 1983, the year after David graduated. In 1987, David was solicited to be president of the CIAU (now CIS) women’s soccer coaches association and served in that role until 1995. In recognition of her accomplishments, the University of Alberta inducted David into their Sports Wall of Fame in 2007. Along with coaching at the CIS level, David has also served as a head coach for numerous under-17, under-16 and under-15 provincial teams for both Alberta and B.C. In the summer of 2005, David coached Team B.C. to gold at the Canada Summer Games hosted in Regina. On a national level, David was an assistant coach for the under-17 Canadian team and an assistant coach with the u-20 Canadian team that won the 2008 CONCACAF Championship. David is a National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) level four coach and earned her masters in coaching from the University of Victoria in 1999. • EPIC DEVELOPMENT CENTRE - WINTER - Neil Sedgwick
  • 2 years
  • Training & coaching We integrate our curriculum and long term player development philosophy with a practice of living our values whilst providing EPIC development opportunities. We are here for you and we value that the child comes first. Sport and the technical / tactical elements are the attraction into our programs, however we believe character is what is being developed inside of our training. We take a four corners approach to development (Technical/Tactical; Social/Emotional; Psychological/Mental; Physical). How do we create our curriculum? EPIC Sport has created a curriculum based on our coach development experience and education, as well as many years of on-field practice. As part of the LONG TERM ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT for Canada. After spending eleven years coaching in the NCAA Div I and Div II, Neil Sedgwick returned to Vancouver Island. Sedgwick spent the last seven years prior to his return in April 2011 as head coach of The University of Montana women’s soccer program, leading the club to the Big Sky Conference tournament in 2004, 2006 and 2008. Prior to this, Sedgwick spent two years as The University of North Dakota's Head Coach, then three years as the Associate Head Coach at The University of Southern California. While in the US, Neil added USSF (United States Soccer Federation) 'A' Licence certification to the Canadian Soccer Association 'A' Licence and Level Five certifcation. He then went on to coach at the Olympic Development Program (ODP) level in both Southern California and Montana and was called upon in all three states (ND, CA, MT) to be part of their coach education programs. Following his graduation from the National Coaching Institute - Victoria (1996) and his Masters of Education (Coaching Studies) from The University of Victoria, Sedgwick returned to Halifax to assist Neil Turnbull, then the head coach of the Canadian national team, with Dalhousie University's women's team. This led to Sedgwick becoming part of that national women's team staff for the next three years. ?During this time, Sedgwick returned to British Columbia and took on the position of Head Coach/Director of the Upper Island Regional Soccer Center based out of Nanaimo for two years. Here he established his many positive contacts on Vancouver Island while administering the coach, player and referee development programs in the areas of Nanaimo, Parksville, Port Alberni, Courtnay/Comox, Campbell River and Powell River. A native of Sackville, Nova Scotia, Sedgwick was a three time CIAU (Now CIS) All Canadian (once at Saint Mary's University and twice at Dalhousie University), and was selected fifth overall in the 1990 CSL (Canadian Soccer League) draft by the Winnipeg Fury. He continued his career in the CSL by playing for his home town team the Nova Scotia Clippers and later the Montreal Supra. In 1993 Sedgwick represented Canada, while playing for University of Victoria's Head Coach Bruce Wilson, at the World University Games. During his time on Vancouver Island Sedgwick competed with the Victoria Athletics, Victoria United and later Nanaimo United. He now plays for the University of Victoria Alumni.
