Katelyn Ries '19 Recruiting Profile

    Playing soccer has impacted my life in may ways.  I have learned the meaning of being a team player and perseverance.  My freshmen year of high school, the varsity coach had pulled me up for certain tournaments.  He was planning on moving me up my sophomore year.  The next season we got a new coaching staff and another athlete was pulled up.  I was disappointed but I didn't let the decision stop me from playing the game I loved. Instead, it motivated me to refocus on developing my skills and conditioning.  My dedication and drive led me to be chosen as a team captain for that  season.  With the hard work I put in, the new coach pulled me up as well, to play in tournaments.

    This experience taught me the value of perseverance, commitment, and leadership. I learned how to stay mentally strong even during adversity. I also learned that I am capable of meeting obstacles head on. I am looking for a university that will challenge me both academically and athletically. I feel I would be a positive addition to your program and campus.
