My name is Emily Lara-Donis, I am from Los Angeles, California and I graduate in 2028. Soccer has been in my family for generations and once I started walking my parents got me kicking a soccer ball and into trainings as soon as possible. For most of my friends, soccer was just an after school activity to keep them active, but I didn’t have this same point of view as they did. For me, I knew soccer would be in my future and I knew I would want to grow and become the best I possibly could. In my family, I am the only daughter, I have two brothers, one younger and one older, this has taught me to stay organized, responsible, and help keep everyone stay on track. Growing up with two brothers has improved my ability of making compromises for arguments, listening to others in order to understand where they are coming from, and it has taught me to be patient when teaching people new things. My goal as a student athlete is to continue working hard so I can play in a university at the highest level possible , be a part of a university with high academic standards, and carry on my soccer career to the fullest extent. The first club I joined was Sand and Surf soccer club as a left defender and have been awarded MVP for 3 years straight. I am now starting my first year on Beach FC ECRL playing as a left defender, center midfielder and left forward. In January of this year I was selected to be a part of the women’s U17 Peruvian National Team. I attended a training camp and played a friendly match against Paraguay. This was an experience I will never forget, the level of professionalism and the intense trainings are something that I always want to be a part of my life. During this experience I have learned how to monitor my body really well from hydration and diet all the way to trainings, recovery, and attitude on and off the field. This journey proved that soccer is what I want to do as I grow up, there is no where I rather be than on the field.
