Personal Statement
Dear Coach(es),
My name is Michaela Amber Johnson and I am scheduled to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Global Environmental Sustainability (GES) in 3 ½ Years (December 2022) with a GPA of 3.30 – 3.40 from Oral Roberts University. My primary position is center back, but I can also play attacking outside back &/or outside midfield. I’ve always played on teams that prefer to play quick and at a high pace. I’ve been told that I play above my weight class – I’m very coachable, nice off the field, and play with an edge on the field. My strongest attributes on the pitch are my leadership qualities, technical skills, vision, voice, speed, slide tackles, headers, and passes / free kicks – can place the ball on a dime within 40 yards.
I have interest in obtaining my master's degree from schools with my academic interests in the following areas of study: animal biology, marine science, environmental studies, &/or natural resources management. I love the idea of being able to play another season of NCAA women’s soccer while working toward a master’s degree.
With that said, what are your current recruiting needs for the season of 2023? Please let me know if you have interest in scheduling a time to visit or would like to see game footage. My contact information is: Cell 424.254.6946 or email [email protected] or [email protected]
Below is my profile statement while in high school during the recruiting process to college:
I love to play soccer. I live, breath, and watch soccer! Off the field, I am quiet - I listen and am reserved. On the field, I am fierce - the loudest player on the field: directing, supporting, and calling for the ball up the sideline. I take corners; I take free kicks; I like slide tackles. I'm fast on and off the field. I drive a truck so all my gear can fit in the back - along with a teammate's gear too. I am so excited for this season on the LA Galaxy USSDA team; my passion, energy and life style for soccer is a perfect match for my team and our approach to the game. I have been playing soccer since I was four years old. I have played club level soccer since age 9. I have played forward, outside midfield, and have found a new love to play attacking outside back / center defender. I've been told by coaches that I am aggressive (in a good way) going after the ball, am very competitive, and very coachable. (See my coach quotes) I have worked on improving my left foot as much as my right since early 2013 - and can shoot, pass, and score equally well with both feet. I like to win and contribute to help my teams be successful.
