Carmen Melendez Sosa '21 Recruiting Profile

My name is Carmen Lizeth Melendez Sosa. I have been very passionate about the sport of soccer, and has been one of my dreams to play at a higher level. Even though I have only 3 years of playing on a team as my experience at the moment, I take it to heart. I enjoy being able to get better with every day that comes, and always ask my peers for help when I need it. 

Besides soccer, in school English by far is my favorite subject. I enjoy being able to take a piece of writing and make it to a story that can help people escape from reality when reading it. 

Determination and curiosity is the perfect way to describe me. After practices I might stay a bit longer to practice a foot drill, or ask my teammates for their help to better myself as a player. I also look up online some video drills that I can possibly ask my coach to mix into the practices. If I see that one of my teammates are striving in a game, by asking them I learn what I can better myself in to the level they are. 

A prior sport that I have competed is track and field. I enjoy sprinting, which is why I chose to run the 100 meter dash, and I also enjoy shot put which I ended up getting first in my county (thanks to my coach). I have done track and field for three years, and believe that in a way it has helped me with soccer. 

When playing with my team, I am always making sure that all of my teammates are well, and not injured, I communicate with the team, because without communication plays on the field can get out of hand and there can be a misunderstanding. Being able to have a persona that’s both competitive but positive is what I find to be an important quality to have, and that I pride myself in. With hard work, failures  and determination comes success.
