Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Keaira Leigan and I am currently a junior at Paso Robles High School. I started playing soccer when I was 4 years old and ever since then I’ve been in love with the game. From the moment I started playing I knew this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. My whole world revolves around soccer, everything I do is for soccer. I can play a variety of positions such as left and right forward wing, striker, attacking mid, and defensive mid. I believe I am strongest in the midfield, but I am ready to play any position needed. All my coaches say my strongest quality is my “high soccer IQ”. I play very smart on the field and I’m always ready for what’s going to happen next. I am eager to learn new skills and I would say that I am very coachable. I am dedicated to playing soccer at the college level and I will do anything I can to further my career in soccer.

To whom it may concern My name is Coach Andy Brown, I am the head coach of several teams at Legacy United Soccer Club. My background in soccer is I was a YTS and Professional player at two different professional soccer clubs in England and Scotland and coached within professional academies for 10+ years. Keaira first came to Legacy in 2019 and joined a set team that were winning and playing well. Keaira immediately impressed me and forced her way into my starting line up, contributing with goals, assists, an excellent work rate, desire and a fantastic attitude to win. That season, Keaira contributed massively towards a league championship and a cup competition victory also. Keaira is a very versatile player and is very comfortable in a number of different positions. She can play either wing and has the ability to beat defenders, link up well with the midfield and forwards and contribute to games with goals and assists. Keaira also has excellent technique, is comfortable on the ball and is smart in possession, so for this reason I have played her a number of times in the centre of midfield and she has the ability to take control of games with her wide range of passing ability. Unfortunately, in 2020, the global pandemic hit and put a halt to our season. For a number of players, this was the worst thing possible. However, Keaira’s attitude could not have been better, she worked on her game every single day, constantly asked me for advice and individual training drills and techniques to improve. When the teams came back to training, it was evident that Keaira had worked harder than her teammates and had taken her game to a new level. Keaira was moved up from the 2006 team to the 2005 team so is playing up a year and testing herself against tougher, older opposition. I look forward to continue working with Keaira before she moves on to a college programme. Keaira would be an excellent addition to any college programme and would contribute to any teams success.
