Upon entering high school and being placed on the higher level frosh/soph team was a little short of my expectations. It made me realize that there was more work for me to do. As the season went on, I placed my focus into improving my game and continuing to work hard and be the best team player I could be. Fortunately, my hard work paid off and resulted in me being selected by my coach as the Team MVP. This experience helped me grow as a person and lead me to re-dedicate my efforts to becoming the best Holding Center-mid I am capable of becoming. This in turn will hopefully allow me to play at the college level.
While playing Club Soccer I also participated in school sports. I played both Basketball and Volleyball during my middle school years. I helped lead both teams to successful records. In basketball, I was starting point guard and helped lead the team to my school's first ever Orange County Catholic schools championship game. I was also a starter for the volleyball team which held a 39-1 record over the course of seasons I played. Prior to entering high school, I was honored as the Student Athlete of the Year. The winner of this award was selected by all the coaches including the athletic director. Although this is an athletic award, academic excellence is also a consideration and factor in earning the award. I was on the honor roll during my Middle School years which helped solidify my selection not only because of the way I played but also in my academic achievements. During those years I participated in all 3 sports which taught me many valuable lessons...teamwork, commitment, and sacrifice. First and foremost, my priority is looking for a school that is strong in academics which will allow me to pursue my chosen career and provide a good background for me. Secondly, a Soccer program that I feel values both the player's as well as team's development. And lastly, a Soccer program I feel comfortable with, that can provide a family and supportive culture. I firmly believe I have the talent to compete for a college team as well as be a solid representative as a student-athlete for the school and program. My focus on both academics as well as athletics is an integral part to my foundation. For the right school and program, I believe I can be a positive contributor and representative.
