Shiya Rai '23 Recruiting Profile

I have always dreamt of playing my favorite sport soccer at some point. I was born in different country which is known as Fiji Islands. The schools were much different than the schools in USA. I played in the boys team in my school because there was no girls teams . I played center midfielder and was appreciated by other school coach. Our school went to compete with other school  located at one of the well known school. The teacher and coach of that school were fascinated by the fact that I was the only girl playing in the team and I played good. They recommended me to attend their school next year since they are academically great and have girls soccer too. I accepted the offer but then we got to know the news of migrating to USA. I was sad at first but then overcome those feelings when I realized that USA has more opportunities than the county I lived has. I play from my heart and I have never been rude or disrespectful to anyone. I always appreciate other teams. When I played in the Tracy league, my coach always made me play center mid and sometimes forward because he always told me that I have the potential to shoot from distance and have really good ball control. He always reminded me to go ahead and continue to play soccer because I have those skills but I have to keep up with those.
