My name is Mackenzie Young, I am fifteen years old, and I have been playing soccer for about ten years now. Soccer has always been an important part in my life. I have learned so much from how to build chemistry to how to pick my team and myself up after disappointing outcomes. What sets me apart from other candidates is my desire to try new things on and off the field. Whether that be attempting a new skill, needing to be flexible, or even working with teammates outside of practice, i am always willing to put in the extra time and work to improve myself as a player.
Ever since I was young, I've always loved trying new challenging skills. Around the age of 9, I learned to juggle. At 10, I landed my first rainbow, and even hit an around-the-world at 13. Even though learning skills is tough, I loved every step of the way. Incorporating those skills into practices and games is a feeling unlike any other. Around that time, I also started guest playing for teams. I would play for other 08 teams to 06 teams. Guest playing is an opportunity I rarely reject. I enjoy hearing the feedback from other coaches and teammates, which helps me learn more playing styles and gets me to look at the game in different perspectives. Not only do I improve from the feedback, but I also learn to create a strong team bond and trust. As for my academics, I'm drawn to more imaginative classes like art and PE. I enjoy translating my creativity in school to soccer. Just like on the field, I will put in extra time to my academics to keep my grades up.
Although I am only a freshman in high school, that does not dismiss the fact that I plan to play soccer for as long as I can. To be able to make my dream happen, I will enhance myself overall, both academically and athletically. I'm focused on my future successes, working to achieve them, and will not stop until I'm satisfied.
