Playing soccer in Oregon for a while was definitely a great experience and helped me grow as a player but the level was nothing compared to Southern California soccer and now Florida. In Oregon I made every team I tried out for easily and was always the top of all of them. Being on the ODP state team 3 years in a row, attending US women's national training, and being a reserve for Portland Thorns DA due to location put me on the right path for my goals, which are playing high level college soccer. But everything I had accomplished almost seemed easy once I moved to San Diego.
Granted I did make the G05 Albion DA team but I worked extremely hard for that, and had to fight for minutes. Playing with a new team means playing in a new league. The DA league is so competitive and you don’t play bad teams, some are better than others but if they come on that field with a USDA patch on their jersey they're there to compete. It was a constant battle for everything, but I knew all of my hard work was starting to pay off when I received an email from IMG Academy’s recruiting coach offering me a spot in their program.
Moving all the way to Florida would mean a lot, it meant being the new girl again, living in my fourth state, a new team, staff, and new opportunities. I chose to focus on the opportunities and how much this move would mean for my future, therefore my parents did everything in their power to make it happen. Due to covid there were alot of changes, one of them being USDA changing to Girls Academy. Meaning, my new club would play in a different league and many things would be different. Although it’s hard work all of it has been completely worth it in every way. I’m provided with everything I need to be successful wherever and whenever I need it and this change has put me on the perfect path I need to accomplish my goals of being a D1 athlete at a high academic school.
