Although I’ve had success and won championships in travel basketball, flag football and softball, soccer is the only sport I have ever truly loved. Since I could walk, I feel like I have always been kicking a ball. Some people find comfort through meditation or other methods, for me my sanctuary is the field. Every time I step onto it, I forget all the outside stuff and enjoy being in my element. I am a goalkeeper and while most people find it stressful, I thrive and take great pride in my position. One of my top goals is to play soccer at the next level, and I would love nothing more than to be able to do this while pursuing my degree.
I joined my first travel team at 8 years old, Premiere AC (PAC), where I developed my foot skills and had the opportunity to work as a keeper. While at this club, I was awarded the Bill Hamid Goalkeeper Award in 2016. I also played with the Spirit Super Y Team during the summers and was invited to a Super Y Regional Scouting Series Event and to play at the National Tournament with the Sunrise Soccer Team. I joined the Washington Spirit DA team and played with them from 2016 to 2019. I loved playing in the DA, especially the training aspect of it. In the fall of 2019, I wanted to play for my high school team in the very competitive WCAC Conference. The timing worked out as the Spirit DA Organization was folding and trying to move into a different club. It was the perfect opportunity for me to transition to my high school team and the VYS soccer club. This past year I was to have played for both the VA Northern Region and VA State ODP teams. While that season was cut short, I continued to train and have recently made the move to attend school and play for IMG Academy. I am excited to be able to play this season and take advantage of all the opportunities that are in front of me.
Like most soccer players I started out on the field, but jumped at the opportunity to be in the goal. Even though my family was not sure it was the best decision since I was young and it limited playing options, I knew there was no turning back and that I was a goalkeeper. I like the ability to see the entire game, to communicate to my teammates, to use my feet to help turn defense into offense, and more importantly to defend our goal. I am a determined and dedicated player, and realize success is not given but earned. When I am not playing with my team, I work with my trainers to improve my skills, strength, and conditioning. I love to study the game and as a keeper work to communicate what I see with my team to help make them aware of what is happening on the field around them. Not only do I strive to make myself a better player, I am always looking to challenge myself in the classroom as well. Academically, I am interested in history, politics, forensic sciences and sports marketing or therapy. However, at this time I am unsure of what I would like to major in.
