I have been playing soccer since the age of 5 years old. Goalkeeper has been the position I showed a natural aptitude and ability since that early age. This is the only position that I have played for my entire soccer career in both club/travel, grade, middle, junior high and high school. For the past 11 years, through hard work and a dedicated practice and game schedule it has helped me forge mental toughness, sense of timing and understanding of the location of every player on the field and sharpened my excellent hand eye coordination.
Playing soccer has helped me focus on my academic endeavors which has allowed me to excel in the classroom. As I look forward to start my college career and pursue graduate education, my desire is to continue to make my passion for soccer part my academic journey.
Aside from soccer, my other motivation in life is to help children. I have worked during my summer break as a volunteer with a faith-based organization to provide health-care assistance to a rural indigenous community in Guatemala's West Highlands. Knowing I contributed to that effort, even in a small way is big for me.
