Avery Bangsund '25 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing soccer since I was 3 years old, although I didn't like it very much because it made me sweaty.  I've come a long way!  Now one of my biggest goals in life is to play collegiate soccer.  I never really felt like I fit in growing up.  I was the weird sporty girl, while everyone else didn't really care for that kind of thing.  I started to play soccer, and it was the only place I could really work hard and push myself and it still feel like a safe place for me to be.  Even through my parents' divorce, and to this day, playing soccer and being out on the field is my happy place.  I had a teacher tell me I had a learning disability and coaches that didn't push me to be my best.  Despite that, I worked hard.  I received the academic scholar award in 5th grade and made my school's varsity soccer team as a starter in 6th grade.  My hard work and determination is paying off.  This past season as a 9th grader (2022) I had 4 goals, 6 assists, 11 shots on goal, 72 saves as a goalkeeper, and 82 steals on defense.  I was named an all-district 1st team defender.  I was an all-district 2nd team goalkeeper in 6th grade (2019) and an all-district 1st team goalkeeper in 7th and 8th grade (2020 and 2021).  I also work hard in the other sports I compete in.  I run cross country to build my endurance, and for the 2021 season was named the girls Scholar of the Year.  During the 2019 season of track, I was a regional qualifier and was named the girls team MVP.  I was also a regional qualifier in 2021 and 2022, and a state qualifier in 2022.  Track and cross country have helped me improve my endurance, speed, and mental game.  I am fierce and have a great read of the field.  Playing soccer has allowed me to learn how to be more patient and look for ways to help my team.  While I am working hard on the field, I am also studying hard and maintaining straight A's in honors and AP classes.  My academic goals for high school are to maintain a high GPA while being a student athlete.  I want to attend a college where I can push myself both on the field and in the classroom for future success. I am open to any collegiate level of soccer.  I hope to achieve my goals and learn in the process.
