Shayla Montayre '21 Recruiting Profile

Aloha! My name Shayla Montayre and I am currently a senior at Kamehameha School - Kapālama. I had fallen in love with the game at the age of seven and it has been quite the trip ever since. I love being able to express myself through soccer and use the talents that God has gifted me, to have fun and better myself as a player.

I am well aware that soccer is a team sport, that is why it is important to have someone like me on your team. I am a team player and I make sure that everyone on the team feels important. I love encouraging others especially when it matters most, and I make sure to include everyone whether it be on or off the field. I am also very hard working and will do my best to help better my teammates. I have a high soccer IQ that helps me to read the game and figure out my next moves. I am always thinking one step ahead.

I try my very best in everything that I do, whether it be academically or athletically. I never settle for anything but my best and strive to always better myself every day. Over the years, I have learned that if it is not to your liking, then what makes you think anyone else is going to like it? At the same time, everyone is always going to have their opinions, but if you believe that you have given everything you got, then there is nothing else you can do about it. But I know in my heart that I will never settle for anything less than my best.
