Sarah Wong - High...Ever since I was four years old, and perhaps even earlier than that, I have been playing soccer. I credit a lot of my love for soccer to my two brothers, whom are eight and ten years older than me. My brothers were always tough on me and would never just "let me win." They demanded I win the ball from them and pushed me even if I was teary-eyed and wanted to quit. I am thankful for this because it developed me as a stronger player with the understanding: Nothing is given, everything is earned. My older brothers could easily overpower me which challenged me physically, so I had to constantly search for a different approach to steal the ball or score a goal. This helped me not only to develop physical toughness, but a persistent mentality as well. This attitude translated into habits that became the foundation of my academics. I attend Le Jardin Academy in Kailua, Hawai’i--the only International Baccalaureate (IB) Program in the state.
