Personal Statement
I live in a small, rural town in eastern Idaho near Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. I have played soccer since I could walk, as I have sister who is 5 years older than me, and also plays soccer. When I was 10 years old, I made the decision to leave my small town soccer club and join a more competitive club team more than 2 hours away. Ever since I have been driving 2+ hours for practices, games, and events for the sport I love. If there is one thing that I can honestly confirm, I will always put soccer above all else.
Despite the odds, I have had amazing, high level soccer opportunities. Some of these have been Farwest Presidents Cup Champions, Presidents Cup Nationals, DPL Nationals, ODP Farwest Region Champion, and an Idaho ODP trip to England. The trip to England not only let us explore the different culture and play local teams, but we got to go to a Manchester City game, and visit the Chelsea and Arsenal stadiums. We did not, however, go and see my personal favorite team, Liverpool. Liverpool is my favorite team because while I was growing up, Virgil Van Dyke was a role model for me. I could relate to him because we are both tall, and he is one of the greatest at his position as Center Back.
Besides soccer, I love spending time in the outdoors where I live: hiking, mountain biking, paddle boarding, horseback riding, and skiing. When the weather keeps me indoors, I also enjoy reading, creative writing, and playing the violin.
