My name is Ava Baker, and I am a high school sophomore at South Elgin High School (Illinois).
I have been playing soccer since the young age of six years old. I began playing at the park district level and then quickly evolved to club play. Currently I play for Sockers FC Chicago in the Girls Academy league as a center forward: however, I have also have experience playing center back and outside forward as well.
Soccer has provided me many life lessons. Before playing soccer, I was a shy and somewhat quiet kid. Playing on an team where others rely on me, and having to work together, I found myself gaining confidence on the field and off. Today, I use that confidence to mentor new and younger players in my club and students in the classroom. I have become more aware of peoples feelings and I try to lift their spirits whenever possible.
My collegiate goal is to find a place where I can get a good education and play the game that I love.
