Personal Statement

Hi my name is Jadyn Novy. I have been playing soccer since 3rd grade but didn't start getting serious about it until late middle school/ early highschool. My goal is to bring a different type of energy to any team that welcomes me. I want to bring energy to the field and make it fun for everyone out on the pitch with me. But still making sure to keep it serious and have a good and FUN season. What makes me a good candidate for the team? I have the will to keep playing, I don't like sitting the bench because I know I can bring something out to the field even if I don't know what that is. I like to define my skills in and out of practice, I practice a lot on my own. I have incredible speed that gives me compliments from teammates, coaches and supporters. I work well with the coaching staff and always try to better myself on and off the field. What makes me different from other recruits, I am a team player. I love the sport and if I am around other girls that love the sport too, then I play better because I feel better knowing I am not the only one here because my parents made me choose a sport. I am being challenged in some of my classes so my GPA is not where I want it to be, I am looking for a fresh start come junior year. I am looking forward to hearing from future colleges/coaches about not what I only have to offer to them but what they have to offer to me.

Training

  • Strength and Strength
  • 2 years
  • Strength and Conditioning - we did a lot of juggling before we had practice to warm up, after that we would do a dynamic warm up. After that we had to do juggling then lift it into the air with the juggling and settle with the inside and outside of our feet. Sometimes we could chest or thigh trap it, we would usually go into a juggling circle for a couple of minutes. After that we would do passing drills and then go into shooting for a little following we would get split up into different groups and scrimmage and usually get limited to 1 or 2 touches. To end the practice we would do suicides and ocassionally sprint back in pairs or as a whole.
  • Techinical and Tactical
  • 2 years
  • Practice was only an hour long so we would usually do whole gym scrimmages sometimes limited to a certain amount of touches. Or we would have stations set up such as building strength in our legs with jumping drills and shuffling drills, and we would have to do them after warm ups and this would take the whole time.
  • Agility and Individual Training
  • 2 years
  • We would start off with juggling for ten minutes every practice while the coaches set up the stations. Then a light warm up. There was usually about 17-20 stations and we had to do it 4-6 times for the first hour/ hour and a half depending on how many people were there and how long it took. The stations contained of shuffling through ladders, jumping over tiny hurdles, juggling a ball with a string for first touches, jump ropes, two step up and downs, calf raises, ropes, shuffling around fake defenders, shuffling in and out of ladder extending your jump when you came out, balancing on a rope, stretch with push ups, jumping blocks starting from smallest to largest, headers with different heights connected to ropes that were hanging from the ceiling, hitch kicks with poles connected to another pole that came out, hurdles, shuffling, jumping with one foot and switching to the other. After that we would juggle the ball some more while the coaches put everything away. We would do first touch and passing drills with the wall, and then full field scrimmages with sprinting at the end.
