Ciao,
My name is Sophia Rotiroti; I am a part of the Soccer Management Insitute in Rome, Italy. I am a 2003 birth year. I plan on doing my first-year undergrad with SMI as well, and my goal is to play at a high-level Collegiate program for my sophomore year; 2023.
During high school, I was a four-year varsity member of the soccer team at Culver Academies, a boarding school in Indiana. As a Captain, I learned how to create an atmosphere where the girls felt a collective desire to work hard. We made it to the Semi-State Finals, which has only been done once before in Culver's history. My journey at Culver built my character, and with soccer I had to be more creative in that, living two hours from home brought some challenges. But the thing that sets me apart from the average player, is my relentless work ethic, passion for the game, and eye for the field. I have played every position, and as I have grown, I've been able to figure out where my skills were best showcased. As of now, I see myself as a central midfielder because of my ability to see the field and distribute the ball, as well as my ability to get out of tight spaces. I was offered a roster spot on the Chicago Rush Select '03 team to showcase when I was allowed back home to Chicago throughout my culver career. I set my priorities straight at a young age, so I can see it pay off in the future and make my goals become realities. I've played with ODP as well as Eclipse ECNL growing up.
Playing in Italy has expanded my game intellectually, physically, and tactically more than I ever thought. I built an even stronger work ethic and love for the game, which I am looking forward to sharing with players when I return to the U.S.
