MacKenzie Begle '25 Recruiting Profile

My goal is to continue playing soccer in college.  I normally play a defensive position.  I love the challenge of playing defense.  When you aren't faster than the opposing team's offense, you have to be smarter.   I am good at reading players and can often predict their moves.  I know when to back off a mark and trust my teammates, and where to place myself to cut them off if they do get around my teammates.   I pride myself on staying calm and focused, receiving the ball to get control, carrying the ball when open and finding feet with my passes.  When necessary, I can launch the ball up to my offensive team mates.  I have scored a goal from mid field while playing defensive wing.  

I currently play for Sporting Southern Indiana, I am playing on the U17 Fusion team.  Last year, I didn't get as much play time as I would have liked on the 15U team.  It was my first year on a big club team and I had some nerves to work out.  I used my time wisely and worked on the issues I had with help from my coaches and saw huge growth in my confidence and skills by the end of that season.  This year, I earned a  starting position for 75% of the games.  We won several tournaments this year including the Indiana Challenge Cup!  

As a Freshmen on my High School team, I played a mix of JV and Varsity.  I did play enough Varsity minutes to earn my first Varsity letter.  We had a great season and won our 4th consecutive Conference title.  Our goals this season is to win that Conference title again and also to win Sectionals.  We have a very hard Sectional full of good teams.
