Hello, my name is Madison Walczak and I am a 5’4 center back from Northwest Indiana. I attend Lake Central High School. I have been a starter on varsity both my sophomore and junior year, with senior year still to come. This season, I was co-captain of my high school team. On the field, I am known for my leadership and positive encouragement. We finished the season with a record of 10-5-3. I am excited to see what next year brings because we won sectionals for the first time since 2018. I am even more excited to lead my teammates on and off the field. I also just recently started playing with NWI Lions 05 Yellow (ECNL-RL). I hope to play center back or outside back. I am excited for what is to come with this new team.
Over the summer, I got the opportunity to play with Chicago KICS WPSL soccer team. I trained with them all summer and got to play in the last game. It was an amazing experience where I learned a lot. My mental game got stronger as I worked on how to not be down on myself for not playing as much. I also had to work hard and train intensely to keep up with the level that these girls played at. I got to train with a lot of D1 athletes from colleges such as UIC, Ball State, Stetson University, Chicago State, University of West Florida, and more. The intensity was so high and encouraging and I hope to play with them again next summer. I hope that I can continue at the collegiate level to play like how I did this summer.
With my academics, I have managed to attain a 4.41 GPA on a 5.0 grading scale. I strive to do my best in every class. I am currently in Anatomy/Physiology Honors and Intro to Sports Medicine. These classes will help me reach my future goal of majoring in nursing or exercise science. I am also in National Honor Society and Environmental Club. I am excited to see what I will do in college.
