Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Claire Boynton. I am an American living overseas, and attending Ramstein High School (on Ramstein Air Base) in Germany. I moved here the summer of 2023 from San Antonio, TX, where I finished my Sophomore year at Johnson High School, and where I've lived since 2018. I lived in Germany for six years prior to moving to Texas. In Germany, I currently play for FFC Kaiserslautern in the U17 Bundesliga, and will graduate in 2025. I've lived abroad most of my life, and traveled all over the world. Exposure to so many different cultures and people has been a huge influence on who I am today, and who I hope to become. Although it has been a great experience, It is now providing a challenge, as I don't really have ties to schools or locations back in the US when it comes to choosing a college to attend. Because of this, I have chosen to focus on universities with high academic profiles, in the areas of engineering, architecture, or business. Additionally, I am looking for a university that offers a strong sense of community, as I will be an ocean away from my family. I love the idea of being so independent, but I love my family as well, and I know it will be a challenge at times. I will need a strong community of support.
Academically, I've always been a strong student. I enroll, and excel, in Honors and AP level courses. My current GPA is 3.8+. I have also been very active in volunteering my time to a multitude of causes over the years. I am currently working to set up a tutoring program featuring high school students, working with elementary school students, here on Ramstein Air Base. I know that I want to attend a school that provides a challenge academically, allows me to continue to grow personally, and helps me to discover my professional path.
From a soccer perspective, I would love to be part of a program that allows me to continue to grow as a player, teammate, and athlete. I began playing soccer at the age of 5 while living in Germany, where technical skills were the foundation of all instruction. These strong skills, in combination with my speed, strength, soccer IQ, and playmaking abilities, give me the ability and versatility to be dangerous in nearly every position on the pitch (most notably Winger, F, CAM). I participated in ODP in Texas for one season, but the schedule conflicted too much with my ECNL and Girls Academy League club schedules, so I did not continue for more than one season. Here in Germany, I made the ODP Europe Pool, and have a goal to be selected for regional tryouts in the spring (my coaches here say I have a very good chance to make it). I want to be an impact player on a strong team in college. I have a lot to offer any program and am looking forward to showing what I can do at the collegiate level.
