My name is Rafaella Ornelas, I am from Brazil and I am a sophomore soccer player at Western Nebraska Community College (WNCC), Scottsbluff, Nebraska, looking forward to transfer to a University where it has Architecture program. I am looking for a team where I can share my soccer skills and help in the team’s growth and development for future victories, as well as a university that will provide me a good academic advancement for my future career. I am passionate about design and architecture. I have been dreaming about this day since I was in high school back in Brazil when I realized it was possible to study abroad and receive an enhanced education and recognition. Here in the USA, the opportunities are better, and I have been working very hard to pursue my dream to follow a career in Architecture.
Soccer was what brought me here to the USA. WNCC gave me the opportunity to study abroad,to pursue my dream to become an architect, and at the same time this great chance to play the sport that I love. I am a midfield soccer player, that is more defensive, but when necessary offensive as well. At WNCC I played more as holding mid and helped my defense line prevent goals from other teams. I was always there covering their backs as a “defensive guard”, making good tackles and anticipating and intercepting passes. I also helped the middle with passes between the lines, to keep the possession of the ball to concede victories. With my hard work in soccer and the help of my team, I received All-Region IX Honorable Mention this year.
