Hi coaches! My name is Cadence Guzman, and I am 17 years old. I played soccer since the age of 4 on the island of Guam. Soccer has been with me all my life and the love and passion I have for it continues to grow. I played 11 years in recreational leagues, while also following the career path for 6 years in Guam's National Soccer Program. This program led me to represent my island as the U17 Guam's Women's National Team captain. This program has taken me around the world expanding my knowledge and experience in this sport. With international competition I've learned to adapt to weather, other countries styles of play, and how to compete against girls sometimes 2x my age. I've had my fair share of injuries, and it only ever reminded me why I love this sport. Those injuries fueled my drive and took my career to the next level, but I know that it's only the beginning and I want to further this career of mine.
I believe that the best thing you can offer to a team is the ability to lead and assist your team to get to where you want to be. Not how much tricks you can do or how much goals you can score. I am known to be very coachable, and I always want to know how and what I need to improve on. My determination, dedication, and passion make me the player I am today. I remain calm under pressure, and I have a high IQ on the field. I am a strong utility player; I can play both the attacking and defensive side of the game. Recently, I've been looked at as someone who will never bounce back from their injury, and I've refused to believe that. I've suffered from multiple hip tears from an ID camp with my island's national team, that led to the discovery of an uncurable condition 3 years post injury. This condition continued to worsen throughout high school, and it became physically hard to give my best in these crucial seasons. I suffered from symptoms of numbness throughout my body and sharp pain up my spine, all of which was unexplainable. Coming from a strong religious family, I have put my trust in God and know that he has it all planned out for me. He gave blessed me with unexplainable miracles throughout my injury and has transformed me to the player I am today. Every fall I had, I've gotten back each time and not even an uncurable condition can stop me. I play for myself, my island, and for the Lord.
I look forward to working with you all.
Thank you!
