Greetings, Coaches
My name is Anna Fairweather. I am a passionate and intense multi sport athlete. My love of soccer began when I was 3, kicking a ball on Chesterman Beach on the West Coast of Vancouver Island with my dad. I have been in club soccer since I was 5, playing competitively since I was 12.
I swam competitively for 9 years and at the BC provincial level for 5 years. I continue to swim for endurance and injury prevention. My involvement in Shotokan Karate (3rd Kyu) began 5 years ago to learn self defence and improve my self confidence. I didn’t realize how much Karate would also influence and develop my centre of gravity, focus, and attention to detail.
I have developed as a consistent utility player, with my coach placing me in positions of greatest need, depending on the opponent and the flow of the game. As a switch kicker, I love playing outside full back so that I can make runs, create space for the midfield, and facilitate scoring opportunities for my team. As a forward, I don’t hesitate to press the centre backs and the keeper. My coach says that the speed, athleticism, intensity, and strong work ethic that I bring to each game increases the energy of every line my coach puts me on. I thrive in adversity and celebrate each of my teammates' diverse skills and abilities.
Academically, I will be graduating in the Class of 2025 with a double Dogwood diploma in English and French Immersion. I have been able to balance multiple sports, coaching swimming, and achieving high grades in school while chasing my dream of playing soccer for life. I am pursuing studies in Kinesiology with career plans in either pediatric occupational therapy or physiotherapy, while also playing soccer at the varsity level.
