Personal Statement

I have played soccer from the time I was 4 years old and, over the last 12 years, have developed a passion for the sport.  I would love to compete at the University level in the United States and believe I have the attributes and abilities to contribute to a successful team.

I am very coachable and always open to feedback and new challenges.

My goals include developing my skills on & off the pitch. I’m seeking the opportunities that University soccer programs provide to push me beyond my comfort zone and limits to new possibilities.   I love being part of a team, and have the work ethic to rise to the challenge that high level competition presents.  I am seeking a University program that will push me to build my character as a teammate and as an independent, productive person.  I offer a mature presence, and appreciate being around others who hold themselves to high expectations and show up with their best effort everyday.   I am highly motivated in both my soccer pursuits and academics, as shown in my current training & game schedule, as well as academic grades.

I have a great sense of humour, a determined drive and strong support from my family to help me every step of the way in my goals.

  • EXACT Sports: America's #1 College Training Camp - PERFORMANCE REPORT Dara Naismith Sunday, December 10, 2023 8:00 AM-4:30 PM « Cincinnati, OH Soccer - 12/10/2023 Evaluated at Showcase Camp - Cincinnati Girls on 12/10/2023 by Coach Walker of Thomas More College Skillset Overview Technical Abilities - 92 / 100 Passing - Creates opportunities for teammates with accurate passes. Rarely over or under hits the ball. Ball Control - Quality first touch in space, and controls the ball under pressure. Tactical Abilities - 92 / 100 Speed Of Thought - Has good ideas and tries to play fast. This will only help future growth. Defensive Awareness - Understands team defensive schemes, shows understanding of positioning and angles. Physical Abilities - 95 / 100 Strength - Did a good job handling challenges and played well shoulder-to-shoulder. Agility - Showed good agility. Good body positioning and footwork helped you change directions quickly. Mental Abilities - 95 / 100 Competitiveness - Showed a strong desire to win and seems to enjoy the competition. Keep working hard! Coachable - Responds well to coaching. Asked good questions and seemed to enjoy the learning process. Coach's Comments Dara brought a tremendous attitude and approach to the camp. Despite the weather conditions, Dara exhibited a strong competitive nature and a desire to be coached. Dara was aggressive in closing the space around attackers but controlled not to overcommit and get beat. She was consistent and simple with the ball at her feet. She did not put herself into bad situations with the ball and more often than not quickly completed passes to relieve pressure. Her work rate was continually high throughout the day even when other around her dropped off. Make sure central space is covered if you move forward - When you step forward to defend an attacker who beat a midfield make sure you get other defenders to pinch centrally to stop ball being played into space you just left. The central area behind is the most dangerous space to defend. Constant Communication to organize - I know it is hard as you didn't really know anyone that well, but communicating will help teammates know when they have to cover your space and also where you are allowing the opponent to attack so that they are not dangerous getting to the goal. The better you get at organizing, the less you will have to defend, as there won't be gaps to play into and cause the opponent's play to be more predictable. Change your passing angle when playing out of the back - When in possession, help other defenders out by dropping under away from the forward so that you are a passing option. If you stay too close to the forward defending you most players will be hesitant to play you the ball for fear of losing it in a dangerous spot centrally in front of the goal

  • EXACT Sports: America's #1 College Training Camp - PERFORMANCE REPORT Dara Naismith Sunday, July 23, 2023 - Tuesday, July 25, 2023 Team 8 « Oak Brook, IL Soccer - 07/23/2023 - 07/25/2023 Evaluated at Midwest Girls Academic 50 ID Camp on 07/23/2023 by Coach Hanson of Centre College Skillset Overview Technical Abilities - 92 / 100 Dribbling - Quality with ball at both feet. Good in tight spaces, and makes good use of moves to beat defenders. Defending - Aggressive as a defender. Good footwork and positioning, and seems to enjoy the 1v1 battles. Tactical Abilities - 92 / 100 Vision - Field vision is very good. Constantly checking over shoulders on and off ball allows for quick decisions. Field Spacing - Highly active and involved in the attack. Gives good distance of support and passing angles for teammates. Physical Abilities - 92 / 100 Strength - Did a good job handling challenges and played well shoulder-to-shoulder. Balance - Seemed to handle the challenges you faced well. Good job staying on your feet and not getting knocked off the ball. Mental Abilities - 92 / 100 Competitiveness - Showed a strong desire to win and seems to enjoy the competition. Keep working hard! Coachable - Responds well to coaching. Asked good questions and seemed to enjoy the learning process. Coach's Comments Dara is a strong 2024 defender. She has great field vision that allows her to make really quality decisions. She does a great job moving off the ball after passing it off as well. Her driven ball in to space is an incredible strength of hers. Dara has a bright soccer future ahead of her. Work on your 5 yard close range speed - Your ability to get to balls first when you step will improve with a little speed work. Talk more on the field - Your vision is incredible. Use your soccer knowledge to help direct your teammates. Passing accuracy - Passing under pressure from a position that you need to be spot on is difficult. Getting more reps in under pressure will get you more accurate in dangerous situations.
