I‘ve had the opportunity to play soccer for 10 years. The success my team and I has obtained over these years has been very influential in developing me as a athlete and person. Winning BC provincials three times and receiving 2nd and 3rd place as well has made me understand what it takes to be an athlete . Passionate, devotion and team work. Skill can only take you so far, it is the team chemistry and the work you put in. These experiences I’ve had have been extremely pivotal in shaping me into the athlete I am today. Not only did this bring me confidence in my ability, but it made me realize the love I have to compete in this sport. Throughout the wins and the losses my team and I had, I’ve only grown into a better athlete.
A couple years ago I suffered from a bad concussion. I was out from training and games for a few months, and unfortunately I had to miss out on cup playoffs with my team. It was hard to not be on the field with my team but the experience only made me work harder and push my boundaries and limits. I will always take my set backs and overcome them with everything I have. It’s been my dream ever since I was in grade 6 to play soccer in university. People would ask me what I wanna do when I’m older, i would say “I don’t know I just want to play soccer”. Over the last 3 years of being in high school I have challenged myself academically. I would love to continue this in post secondary, I’m looking for a program that will embrace my team first attitude, push me physically and mentally and develop me into a better player on and off the field.
