2017 HighlightsMy name is Mary Kathryn Montgomery. I started playing soccer when I four years old and was coached by my mom in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 2005 my family and I moved to Geneva, Switzerland. Living in Geneva has been one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I attend the International School of Geneva with students from all over the world and have become fluent in Spanish and French. In addition to being exposed to such a global and international environment, I continued to play soccer. I joined a club team at age 8 however it was not a typical experience. We were the only girls team in our league and therefore I have played against all male teams from the age of 8 to 14 when we were finally entered in an all girls league. It was definitely a humbling experience and has made me the player I am today.
In addition to the Club team, I have been playing on my school team since I moved and have had the opportunity to play in several international tournaments all over Europe in places like; Stockholm, Nice, Basel, Verona and Milan. I have had the pleasure of being captain of my club and school team and the honor of leading and uniting girls from all of the world in different languages for the love of soccer. I think that my international experience has had a giant impact on my style of playing and leading my teams.
Though soccer is my passion and I would love to continue to play in University, I value my academics and aspire to continue my education with the hope of one day being able to exude all of the values I have learnt living in one of the most global cities in the world.
