Personal Statement

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about me!

Hi, I am Kate Adelman, a 2024 graduate at Easton High School (EHS) on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

I am a 3 year starting member of EHS Varsity Soccer and Varsity Basketball teams, earning Team captain, MVP, and 1st Team All-Region during the fall 2022 soccer season. I am also a leader on my club team, Brazilian United Soccer Academy (BUSA). I have a GPA of 4.13/4.0 and I am a member of both Latin and National Honor Society.

After 4 years playing soccer with my club team, what I love most is we are a family. I value the unique BUSA experience  - the small size, the Brazilian coaches, and the empowering coaching philosophy based on respect, experience, and player development. I’ve grown into a technically skilled player with a high work rate, and the autonomy to analyze the game and play creatively. I am known for a level-headed intensity and physicality, particularly playing hard til the last whistle, drawing fouls, and distributing the ball to create opportunities.  Coaches also praise my coachability, highlighting  resilience, responsible character, and emotional maturity.  Playing on a small team, with few subs, I have developed the ability to adapt to different positions and situations, and understand the importance of each and every moment of the game. My team holds our own against much larger clubs and is currently competing in the EPL National League.

I grew up playing soccer and I love the game - the focus, the energy, and the relationships. The skills and values I have learned being a team sport athlete translate to the rest of my life. Outside of soccer, I love to read, play music, explore the outdoors, and create art. My goal is to play competitive soccer at a selective liberal arts college. I want to find a soccer program that feels like a family; a family that will challenge and support my growth as a player and as a person. In return, I believe I have the determination, conditioning, technical and mental skills, and character to contribute to my team - on and off the field - and my college community.

Training

  • Immersive Soccer Experience in Brazil
  • 1 year
  • For 2 weeks in November 2021, I was one of a select few players to live, train, and compete with the Associação Desportiva 3R girls soccer club in Joinville City, Brazil. AD 3R develops pro players for national and international levels. Three sessions a day included strength/agility workouts, futsal, field practices, and game play. I gained invaluable athletic and personal skills, as well as cultural appreciation from this immersive experience.
