Erin Cherian Socc...I started my soccer journey as a U-10 player after being recruited by the dad of a friend, who told his daughter’s coach that he knew a girl who beats the boys in backyard soccer. Our team improved each season, had lots of fun playing together, win or lose, and within two years won the league championship. I continued my journey with more competitive teams and leagues, helping each team improve win percentages by scoring or assisting in over two-thirds of the goals scored. More than the wins or the losses, the collective fun and joy, as well as the lasting friendships and memories from playing together motivated me to keep my momentum and develop the desire to challenge myself to play at the next level.
Throughout this journey, I balanced my own high expectations in academics by being a magnet student with a 4.0 GPA and in athletics by being not only a soccer player, but also a starter on a 20+ win varsity basketball team playing in a challenging division, playing on a high-level AAU basketball team, and volunteering as an assistant coach on a U-9 girls soccer team.
My collegiate goal is to continue my soccer journey on a challenging Division I college that meets my academic goal of graduating with a degree in bioengineering, specializing in the field of prosthetics. My athletic and academic journey, with the support of my coaches, teachers, friends, teammates, and family has been an incredibly positive, memorable experience. I aspire to continue this journey at a college that instills the same spirit of challenge, fun, hard work, team sprit, and success.
