Hi I am Lydia Roberts currently a Senior at West Michigan Aviation Academy. Last fall I played and was captain of my 06/07 Midwest United FC White Team. Soccer has always been a big part of my life. I started playing at 4, and have been playing club for years, and have played goalie for about 8 years now. And soccer is important to me, but I also value myself as being a good student and setting high standards for myself in the classroom, and really pushing myself to be the best I can be. My passion is to go into Psychology or Social Work, hoping to go into youth ministry one day.
It is important to me to be more than just a soccer player. My faith as a christian is the reason I am here today. Jesus great love and mercy for me is more than I ever deserve. Yes I am choosing a college to play at in order to be a student athlete. But I am not going to go to a place that's going to cause me to compromise the values and morals I have. A place that is going to not just say they believe in Jesus, but a place that truly puts him at the center of everything that they do.
I also pride myself as being a leader both on and off the field. Getting to the field early, making sure my teammates are ready and really trying to build those connections with my teammates. On the field I am always communicating with my team. Trying to make sure they can find the open space, and open passes, and making sure they are all set up when we are defending set pieces. Especially in those tight games I try to be positive and give my team that extra push they may need. I believe that I have what it takes to play college and more, and am always looking to push myself. Always willing to work harder to get better, and take coach's advice to get better.
