I have dreamt about playing college soccer since I was a young girl. I love the game and have worked hard to get to the level of where I am today. Not only do I strive to improve athletically, I am also a student eager to learn and succeed. I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA and I have taken many challenging courses in school because I love the challenge.
In April of 2013, I had the fortunate experience of tearing my ACL and partially tearing my medial meniscus. This was a contact injury. I had quite a few set backs over the course of my recovery, but I persevered and stepped back on the field in February of 2014. Four and a half months after my return to the game, I was honored with All-Conference and All-District awards. During my recovery, I felt as if I would never return to be at the same level as I was before my injury and that my dream of playing soccer in college would never come true. However, I decided to view my recovery as a challenge, and I refused to let an injury tear me down. So I worked my butt off and I had a great returning season and I am only continuing to improve and become stronger.
I have a good work ethic and I am willing to do what it takes to get to where I need to be. I will bounce back from any set back, just as I did with my ACL tear. I described my experience of tearing my ACL as a fortunate experience because it showed me that no matter what happens, if you persevere and work hard, anything is possible.
