Kelsey CM highlig...My name is Kelsey Jensen and I am a student athlete at Champlin Park High School in Brooklyn Park, MN graduating in 2021.
I have been playing center midfield for my club team for the last 8 years, in addition to forward while playing U16 scoring in some of our key matches, which helped us advance as champions in our league.
I have had a passion for soccer since I started playing in first grade, and started playing competitively when I was 9. Since starting soccer, I have worked day-in and day-out on my skills, speed, and teamwork to become the best player I could become. I have been captain of my team in my U13-U14 teams while playing with NW Kickers. I have played a strong leadership role with my Fire Soccer Club. Last year I played on 2 of our U19 Twin City fire teams as well as my own Fire U17 team. This year I have been playing with our Twin City Fire Premier U18 club team. With Covid-19, my team played in several scrimmages and practiced 3 days per week as restrictions allowed. I've been our primary holding center mid playing the majority, if not each minute of every game. In our last season before Covid-19, we had very successful seasons and lead in the MYSA league and ending as finalist in tournaments at Kansas City, Real Colorado, and NSC Spring Cup.
I share my excitement for the beautiful game while coaching a youth soccer development academy program for 4-8 year olds as well, which I have been a part of for the last 6 years. I have been a referee for soccer on our off days for the club leagues, as well as community leagues.
My passion extends to my studies, where I am taking a full schedule of honors classes and maintaining a 3.9/4 GPA. Starting Fall 2019, I started the full IB diploma program at Champlin Park, as well as a leader in the LINK program, mentoring incoming freshman at our school. I will continue in the IB program my senior year as well as National Honor Society, LEO club leader, Robotics, and Varsity Soccer.
Being apart of the leadership team with LEO club has made a big impact, having the opportunity these last three years at high school to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and Ronald McDonald house, along with several other outreach opportunities in the community. It has made my desire to serve people in the biomedical engineering field even stronger. My freshman, sophmore and Junior years I lettered in Pep band, playing the flute, LEO club, Robotics, and the soccer team.
I have a hard work ethic, and a never-give-up attitude that I use in all aspects of my life. I am very excited to continue my passion for soccer in college and I will work hard to succeed in collegiate soccer and academics to reach my goals.
I've chosen Michigan Tech University for Engineering.
