Dream big we were told as kids, and honestly, that's exactly what I did. I dreamt of going to a college to play soccer and become a lawyer or study in the medical field. My biggest dream is going big; and becoming a part of the national team, playing like Alex Morgan. One thing most don’t know about me is that once I set my mind to do something, I'm going to do it. I don’t take no, if, ands, or buts! Dedication is something very important to me, and it's one of my strongest assets. For incidence, with math, I’ve never been that good at it. Once high school hit, I realized how important maintaining good grades were. Being a multi-athlete, grades are a big deal, so I took the extra time to work harder and became better at that subject. Another one of my strongest assets is being a team-player, and becoming family with the team. I love when a team is so close it’s like a second family, and from my experience, you work better together. Becoming so close with one-another you better understand the team. I can understand who likes what, what kind of passes they prefer, and what kind of runs they like. That all comes with time and becoming a family. Soccer is something I've been pursuing for about 10 years now, and I don't plan on stopping for a long time.
It would be hard to say that no athlete has not yet faced adversity. Two years ago, I hurt my knee and was out for a while. Not playing was like a gut punch; soccer was the thing that kept me sane. Instead of being a bump on a log, I worked and worked hard to become better. The day I came back, the day I got to lace my cleats and get back on the field, was the happiest day in a long time. I had hoped that would be the last time I stared adversity in the eyes, but unfortunately, it wasn’t. When I made Varsity as a freshman, I was so excited. This was one of my dreams growing up. We started having practice, and two weeks into our school year we had our first scare for our first Covid-19 case. Shortly after, our Governor shut down all schools. Not one game, not even pictures. It was a hard time, almost soul-crushing. Knowing that I had to take a break from soccer and seeing friends, I kept the faith and prayed it would be over soon. . I believe I went a total of 5 months without soccer. I’m someone who plays soccer year-round, so a five-month break was hard. My body took the quarantine hard. When we were finally able to play in August, everyone was rusty. I worked my butt off to get back to where I am now. It’s still hard with some of the restrictions, but I overcame it not knowing if it was ever going to end.
In conclusion, soccer has always been an important part of my life. As I look forward to the future, I hope to be able to compete at a high level and continue to enjoy and learn from the game. Soccer helped me develop and maintain a strong work ethic, and form the person I am today.
