Anyone taking the time to apply to a university is likely a qualified applicant. They’re probably good students, talented artists, or maybe even successful athletes. So, what makes me stand out? My dedication, which has helped me to become all three. As a student I take my academics seriously and am fully dedicated to my learning. I challenge myself academically and have taken both Honors and AP classes, as well as dual credit courses that allow me to earn college credits as a high school student. My dedication as a student is not only demonstrated in the types of classes I have taken, but also in the grades I have earned in those courses. I’m very proud of how my dedication has paid off in the form of a 4.218 GPA. I have also been a dedicated violinist for six years and my commitment to playing was rewarded when I auditioned and earned a spot in my school’s advanced Chamber Orchestra.
The area of my life where my dedication has been most tested and developed is on the soccer field. Starting my sophomore year when I was invited to play for both the JV and Varsity teams, through to my junior year when I earned a starting Varsity position and was named to the North 5A All-League First Team as one of three defenders. I am a dedicated team member who recognizes that we succeed or fail together and that it is our responsibility to hold one another accountable, motivate each other, and support each other. I am a dedicated player who has been told by every coach I've played for that I am coachable, that I listen well, and that I put coach instructions into action. My dedication as a player isn't just for team training and games; I am dedicated to maintaining my fitness, constantly working to improve strength and speed, and seeking opportunities to train with and learn from others.
My dedication has served me well during my high school years and I know it will help me achieve great things during my time at a university as well.
