Hello, my name is Jacklyn Maisonet and I am a freshman at Bellmore JFK High School in Long Island, NY. I'm proud to say that I am the starting goalie on my school's varsity team. At the end of the fall 2015 season, prior to the playoff season, I was ranked second for saves in Nassau County. Although challenging because I am a freshman playing against older girls, I found the experience rewarding.
I began playing goalie at the age of 8 and immediately fell in love with the position. It was like being a coach of my team while on the field. I felt like I was trusted as a leader. At age 12, I was invited to participate in the New York Olympic Developmental Program(ODP), where I played for 2 seasons. As an ODP member I was afforded the opportunity to attend summer camp at the University of Rhode Island. This experience helped me mature both as a player and as a person.
My education is very important to me. Beginning in third grade I was selected to participate in the APEX Program. This program was for elementary school students who have been identified as being intellectually gifted. As I continued my education into middle school, I was scheduled for all honors classes. I graduated from middle school with a GPA of 95. Upon entering high school, I continued to enroll in all honors classes. With hard work, strong effort, and dedication I am determined to keep a high GPA. I am seeking a college that will challenge me academically and athletically.
My life long goals consist of becoming a successful, productive member of society while playing the game that
I love.
Thank you for taking the time to view my profile and read my personal statement. I look forward to future inquiries.
Much thanks,
Jacklyn
