My name is Avery Ballantyne and I am a freshman at the Brooklyn Technical High School in New York City. Brooklyn Tech is a specialized high school and is one of most competitive public schools in the nation. This year I have been able to maintain a 4.0 gpa and will continue to do so. I am a very dedicated student who works hard both on and off the field. As a freshman, I started on the Varsity girls soccer team and played right forward and striker. I was top 3 in the city for assists and was one of my teams top goal scorers. I scored the winning goal in the semi finals to send us to the City Championship, where we were crowned as the Division AA PSAL city champions and Mayors Cup winners. This made us the best high school girls soccer team in all of New York City. In 2023, I won first place in the 100 meter track race in the New York City Public School Championship track meet. This means I am among the fastest sprinters in New York City.
For club soccer, I play on Downtown United Soccer Club on the G2009 Blue team. I have played for this team for 6 years now and we are currently in the girls academy rising league. We will join Girls Academy by next year. I am considered one of the top players in the club for all age groups, causing me to secure a lot of opportunities to play with older age groups such as 2006 and 2008. With these teams, I have competed against ECNL and GA teams and played very well. This year I was chosen to attend the Surf Cup in San Diego, with a team of sophomores and juniors from DUSC.
On the field, I am an aggressive attacker who is constantly looking for opportunities to advance forward. I play on the right wing, where I can utilize my speed and 1v1 dribbling skills. I am also very strong in pressing and counterpressing to help win the ball back for my team. I work very hard at trying to be the best one on the field and show up everyday to get better and improve.
