My name is Mika Ishii and I am in the class of 2023. I am an attacking midfielder/forward, when it comes to college soccer I am willing to put in my all to become a stand-out player. I have been playing soccer ever since I was five years old playing for clubs like Downtown United Soccer Club and Manhattan Soccer Club. During my freshman year of high school, I became a starter for my varsity team and became captain during my junior year where I became the top goalscorer with 18 goals and 9 assists in 11 games, also making it in the top 20 list of goalscorers in all New York City public schools. Off the pitch, it is really important to connect with teammates as it could highly reflect on future performances during games, playing soccer for over 11 years has helped me create special bonds and friendships also making me a teammate to be looked up to. Being able to communicate well on and off the pitch with my teammates really shows who I am as a person as well as a player. All of my past coaches have described me as hardworking and a person who is able to listen and take up challenges as a way to willingly improve. In the future, I am able to use these skills to become a college soccer player.
