Personal Statement

I have been playing soccer since I was a little girl—the first time I touched a ball I was probably around 4 years old.  Ever since, soccer has just been a passion of mine.  It has always been a part of me, I've played almost every other sport but I've always stuck with this one.  There is simply something about the feeling I get when I put my uniform on and am about to step on that field that is addicting.  Whenever the ball is between my feet, everything in the outside world, anything that is going on in my life, doesn’t matter anymore.  This feeling is unmatched and I couldn't imagine my life, thus far, without it.  I played recreational soccer when I was five and joined my first travel team at the age of seven. I continued to play with that team up until middle school, where I then joined another club team.  This team consisted of girls from a variety of different schools, though they had all been playing together since they were little.  I was scared at first but honestly, I had adjusted relatively quickly.  I am --all around-- an outgoing person, an affable teammate, and always am open to constructive criticism as I´m constantly looking to be a better player and human.   At the first tournament, I felt as though I belonged there and even though I left that team after two and half years, my friendship with those girls still remains to this day.  That's one of the reasons why I love to play.  You spend days and weekends with these girls and sure enough, they become family.  You win together, you lose together and get through it all, together--on and off the field.  I love the game and everything that it has to offer, it truly makes my life better and I don't know who or where I'd be without it.  I have been on a travel team (Force) for about almost two years now.  I believe I am right on track to where I am supposed to be and am beyond ready for what is next.  I´m academically stable and can keep up with everything that is thrown my way.  I am very driven and I can do anything I put my mind to.  I've been told by multiple coaches that I show great aptitude for training and have the ability to play anywhere; but I have the most experience in Center Back and Striker.  When playing these two positions, I prepare myself to see where the opposing player is going and what their next move is, before they even make it.  I have a great ability to see the field and know where I will play the ball next.
