Personal Statement
I've been playing soccer for as long as I can remember, but it's not necessarily the dedication and time that I constantly put into it that matters most, it's the passion and community that I have been blessed with over the many years that I've had the opportunity to play for a team. Being able to be a part of something that is bigger than myself and having the chance to learn how to show up for the girls who count on me is something that I will never forget. Ever since I was younger I have been taught to put others first, but I never truly understood what it meant until I was able to be a part of a team.
Throughout my years on Varsity soccer I was asked to fill an extremely big role as an underclassman on a team full of much stronger and older girls who challenged me everyday during practice and games. Not only was I motivated and challenged by my teammates but I formed unforgettable bonds with people who pushed me to get better everyday. This sense of community and willingness to do anything for one another is what ultimately drives my love for the game. I was able to develop a deeper understanding of what hard work really is and the passion that I had for soccer only strengthened as the years went on, especially throughout high school. Although I am currently a junior and I've been on varsity for 2 years now, I have a true appreciation for every minute that I'm able to play with the people I love most, because if there's one thing I learned, it's that you never really know when it could all be over. This year especially was a clear reminder not to take the time that I get to play for granted because absolutely nothing is guaranteed.
I have always had a desire to continue my soccer career into the college level and I am extremely motivated to be able to continue playing my favorite game and to improve my skills in a new and exciting environment at a new and different place. I am looking to create an opportunity for myself to be a part of another hardworking and motivated community, and to be able to be pushed and challenged by a variety of excellent soccer players who encourage me to be my best self, on and off the field.
