My name is Isabel Saville. I have been playing soccer since I was 6 years old. It is something that I love and enjoy. When I was younger, my full focus wasn't on soccer. I did figure skating up until seventh grade. It wasn't until then that I realized I wanted to focus more on soccer. I quit figure skating and joined a premier team in my town. The coaching staff for that team helped me grow and develop as a player. During the time I spent with that club, I mastered my first touch, and my confidence grew. I got faster and was able to out run many of the girls whom I played with. However, I wanted more competition. I switched clubs and my skills developed more with them. I still play for this club and am growing as a player every session. I enjoy playing soccer with my teammates outside of regularly scheduled practices. I also love watching the NWSL games and of course, the USWNT.
I got pulled up to varsity for high school my freshman year, but I got a concussion midway through that put me out for pretty much the rest of the season. When I returned sophomore year, I started every game. I had a lot of assists and a few goals. My junior year, I continued to start. By the end of my junior season, I was named captain for the 2019 fall season. I have always been a natural leader on and off the field. I look forward to helping my teammates grow and learn, just like I will.
Off the field, I am a straight A student with a 4.9 GPA on the weighted scale. I take many AP's and all honors classes. I am hard working, determined and resilient. I try to learn as much as I can in school and be the best student I can. I use my failures to help me in the future. Being a soccer player has made me resilient in the school setting because I've learned to grown from failure instead to let it bring me down. From being a student-athlete, I have learned the importance of time management and hard work. To manage my life, I have to be organized and efficient. Soccer keeps me focused during the school year because it helps me to de-stress and focus on something other than school.
I plan on bringing what I have learned from being a student athlete into the college setting. My hard work, time management skills and determination will follow me wherever I go and help me to be successful on and off the field.
