My name is Alisa DeWitt and I am 5’3 and 130lbs as a mid and striker soccer player. I have helped my varsity soccer team go to sectional finals my sophomore and junior year and districts semi-finals freshman and senior year. Also I have helped increase our total goals and shots on goal these past 4 years. My freshmen year I mainly played defensive back. My sophomore year my team needed me to move to midfield because of my ability to push through the line and move the ball forward to the offense. This was a challenge I gladly accepted. Later in the season when someone was injured I was able to seamlessly go back into the defense position. I believe that being flexible and being able to be move into the position where my team needed me is a priceless skill. My junior year I played offense. As i scored 4 goals for my team this season. As it being my very first year as an offensive player I believe 4 goals is a good start. My senior year I played back in the mid-field and created many opportunities for our strikers. I also assisted many goals. I am the person our team goes to, to take free kicks as I have a powerful shot, and can curve the ball. Outside of my soccer season in life I have personally been influenced in many countless ways. One of the most important things I have been taught is to always be who I am. Staying true to myself will help me grow as player and as a person. Another way I have been influenced is to always create and achieve goals. Having goals will allow me to always believe in myself and strive to be better. I became very passionate about this sport the first time I played it. I started playing at age 4 when I was in recreational soccer. I played rec. soccer up until I was 10 then I graduated to travel club soccer. After club soccer I then made the varsity high school soccer team my freshman year. I currently still play on varsity. I have learned a ton throughout these many years about myself playing this game. An important lesson I have learned is that even when things don’t go your way in the game you can’t give up no matter what. You have to play a hundred percent for a hundred percent of the time. My coach tells us to always leave your tank empty on the field and I try to achieve that goal every game. Another valuable lesson is that just because a team or a player may seem better than you you can’t allow that to bring you down. You have to play the game the best way you know how to play. I have goals in my academics. I plan to graduate high school with an Honors Diploma, and have a 3.7 or higher cumulative GPA throughout my entire high school career. I plan to go a good college and participate in soccer and track. I also plan to get my bachelors degree in Sales and Marketing. I have great persuading skills and want to put them to good use in my future. Some skills I have as a player include my fast thinking, and my aggressiveness. I can notice and connect a pass that is more likely to benefit the team than the other pass that is open that might quickly be taken away. I also can decide whether or not I should take a goal or pass to another player to get that game winning goal. I am a lot shorter than most high school athletes, and because of this most players underestimate me. This has helped me become a lot more aggressive and a better player. I hope to become even better as my high school career comes to an end and continue to become better as my college career starts.
