Machaela Whaley '21 Recruiting Profile

Hello! I'm Machaela.

2020 will be my Senior year in high school.  I’m a four year varsity starter on my high school soccer team.   I’ve also earned varsity letters in Basketball and Track.

My sophomore year I was moved from left fullback to left center back.  My coach gave me the responsibility of controlling the defensive line. I helped train two new girls on the defensive line. Although our record did not reflect a winning season, our defense significantly reduced the amount of shots on goal from 298 in 2017 to 55 in 2018 and I earned my first defensive player of the year award.  In 2019 our defense improved again and helped a new goalie earn rookie of the year.  In 2019 I was again named defensive player of the year, 2nd team All Central Buckeye Conference for the Mad River Division,  and third team  All Star Sectional team by the Miami Valley Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association.

I'm so excited for my Senior season.  I was selected as a team captain this season. COVID-19 ended my club‘s spring season before it started. My high school schedule is in progress now with certain spectator restrictions.  

I work hard to improve my soccer skills and study hard for success in the classroom.  I’m a National Honor Society member.  I take college preparatory and honors classes. I have maintained a 3.0+ GPA while being an athlete, working part time and participating in extra curricular activities and committees.  

I have played soccer since I was 5 years old and was part of a shutdown defense for Springfield Thunder soccer club U11-U14 in a premier soccer league.  

I work hard to improve my knowledge of the game, speed, strength and soccer skills.  

I would like the opportunity to play soccer in college. I welcome and will consider any recruiting letters.
