My goal is to go to college on a soccer scholarship and go to college for athletic training and physical therapy or law, and hopefully become a soccer goal keeper coach as well. To me, injures are just a small setback to a bigger come back. Especially now more than ever after I have torn both of my ACLs. One of the hardest injuries to come back from as an athlete, and I have now done it twice. My first ACL tear happened right after my sophomore year of soccer, on December 16th 2022, on my left leg. It was very challenging, but I was determined to come back, not only for my team but also for myself. I made fully recovery and was back to full play in 5 and a half months. Then February 19th 2024, at an id camp, I tore my right ACL. It was devastating at first, I soon realized I can’t change what had happened, and I can only work hard and move forward. I was determined to play my junior season. After 5 months of consistent physical therapy and training I was finally released and able to play the first game of the season. Normally athletes will try to act like their injury isn’t there and not talk to coaches about it, but my injuries have made me into the person I am today and I’m not going to hide them. When I make any mistakes in a game, I go practice what happened on that mistake for up to 2 hours, so I almost never make the same mistake again. Every mistake is a learning experience. I know how to discipline myself when it is needed, and I will not stop until I get something right. School has always come fairly easy to me, I get good grades, and I am a good student. I never do the bare minimum when it comes to sports or school, I always try my best to go above and beyond. I have played soccer since I was 8 years old. But I have never played goalie up until about 14 years old, and I have grown to love it. I have grown to realize that keeper is not only physically hard, but mentally hard. I have learn to overcome them and always be ready for the next shot, my next save. I like competition, it makes me push myself, but maybe one day someone will one up me, and that means have to take that extra step to make sure they don’t one up me by making myself better to make them better.
