My name is Maria Jose Saavedra, I've been playing soccer competitively since I was 10. I have had the opportunity to play tournaments indoor and outdoor in Canada and United States, where I have played a prominent role. In 2020 I was offered a spot on a High Performance Youth League (OPDL- Ontario Player Development League) for Whitecaps U16 OPDL team, and currently play for Whitecaps U17 OPDL team. In November of 2021 I was personally invited to attend The Canada Soccer National Development Centre (NDC) combine down in Markham Ontario where I got to play an 11v11 game against the U17 girls who are already in the program, it was an amazing experience!
I'm a fast and strong striker, my teammates and coaches describe me as a hard working leader. I am very versatile and creative, I can read the game and explore the space using my speed but also play as a playmaker on the ball and create goal-scoring opportunities. For as long as I can remember playing University soccer has been a huge deal as well as playing professionally. I work towards my goals on and off the pitch daily, I am dedicated to everything I do athletic wise as well as academically.
