Personal Statement

Hi! I'm Ava Villapando. I'm a 2026 HS graduate and a dynamic midfielder. I'm extremely efficient as a central, dangerous attacking and a strong defensive mid. I'm a National athlete who represents the U17 & U20 Philippines Women's National Soccer team. I recently played in the Asian Cup 2024 Tournament in Bali, Indonesia starting in all 3 games and assisting the 1st goal at the Asian Cup for my team. I am the captain of my hometown soccer team and lead my team to win numerous championships including our provincial Cup (Ontario Cup) 4 times and becoming the Canadian National Finalists this past October. I may be known for my field awareness and technical skills but I am in constant mode to improve my game, IQ and contribute my skills to any team I play for.

I take pride on being organized and making sure I balance my life giving family, friends and downtime a priority in order to keep myself grounded. I think people would call me driven, focused but also a goofball and someone who doesn't take things too personally.

My parents and 3 siblings are my biggest cheerleaders and I am so grateful and blessed to have them on my side.

Jerome Bailey (Woody Bailey Soccer School) has developed programs for individual players and teams. Our programs focus on high level technical skills designed for players who may want to someday play for a team at their highest levels and want the training to help grow their technical competencies.
Speed Training (www.speedtraining.ca)

The Speed Training Framework explains the six necessary components required for successful and long-term improvements in soccer-specific physical fitness. Fitness Training: Training for the aerobic, anaerobic lactic, and anaerobic alactic systems, done using movements, intensity, and work-rest periods similar to those used to train all forms of athletic fitness. Physical Conditioning: Strength, speed, power, and plyometric exercises, are executed using the maximum amount of force, in the minimum amount of time, in order to maximize an athletes physical performance. Coordination: Movements and muscular recruitment patterns are taught, and reinforced, to ensure that athletes develop more efficient movement mechanics, and are able to train and play at higher intensities without wasting energy. Injury Rehabilitation: Rehabilitation and prevention of acute and chronic injuries to specific areas (low back, hips, groin, knees, ankles, and shoulders) is achieved through targeted strength exercises, utilizing various different speeds of contraction and types of resistance. Nutrition and Wellness: Athletes are provided with current information and tools needed to help them adopt a healthy, active lifestyle, including an athletic diet designed to maximize performance, while also taking into account specific needs for weight loss, gain, or maintenance. Education: Teaching athletes, coaches and parents the importance of fitness training outside of their technical sport training by giving them resources and explainations to why all movements are performed in our centre.
