Personal Statement

I began playing soccer at the age of five years old and right from that first season, I fell in love with the sport. The following year, I tried hockey and once again, instantly fell in love and had the passion for it as well. At the age of ten having played both sports for a couple of years, I realized that soccer was the one I wanted to focus on and wanted to play at a higher level. I began training myself to become stronger, faster and to improve my ball skills. Over the past couple of years I had been offered to play hockey at a higher more competitive level, but I made the decision to stick with the sport that I was truly passionate about, soccer. I still play hockey but at the house league and select level. I have come to know that playing at the college/university ball level is a very huge step to take but I am committed to do what it takes to succeed. I am prepared to work hard, train hard and train myself to go beyond the standards of what it will take to not only make it, but excel.

My skills include speed with or without the ball, I have developed this skill through taking part in track and field and cross country during my elementary years grades six to eight. My dominant striking foot is my right but I taught myself to strike with my left foot almost as well. I have also taught myself to see the field well and watch how plays develop. I am a team player who is able to take on a leader role if and when necessary. I not only love improving myself but also helping my teammates improve their own skills.

During school I am a hard worker who is able to pick up new information quickly and apply it to the task at hand. In the future I would like to pursue a position in teaching physical education at the high school level.

I would like to find a college/university that will not only challenge me to push through my personal limits and step outside my comfort zone athletically but in my studies as well. I am open to any options that will push me and help me find my hidden strength(s).

Thank you for your time and I would welcome the opportunity to be considered for a future position.

Awards and Activities

  • AwardsReceived Honors 2015, grade 9. I was very happy as this was my first year of high school. The following is a quote taken from an email one of my teachers had sent to my parents, "Mr. Antonopoulos, I would like to add that I'm very proud, and you and your wife should be proud, of Christina's helpfulness in class. She sits beside a student who is struggling with the course. The student misses a lot of classes, for reasons I suspect may be beyond her control at times, and she's very...resistant... to allowing me to help her with anything. Christina however has been fantastic at helping the student catch up on missed work. I'll leave it with her and walk away and by the end of class she has it done and submitted and I know that Christina has helped her understand what she's missed. I truly don't think the student would be pass this course. Christina is actually willing to go out of her way to make sure that other students are also doing well. That is a rare quality to find in someone
